2015 Goals

A glimpse of my goals...
A glimpse of my goals…

At the beginning of the year, I made a “dream board”, yes, that tool you use to envision your goals.  And so far, I’ve achieved a lot of those in the list.  I’m sharing you bullets of the things I wanted to achieve this year and notes of whether or not I’ve achieved them.  If not, what I need to do to do so.

  1. Pass… and top 😉 the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) – awaiting results… 😀
  2. Compete in a triathlon – planned to with Hazel, postponing this to next year. 😉
  3. Have my “best body” – from 58 kilos, to 55, to 53 now, thanks to Nutrimeal and the habit of detoxifying with tea.  Still need to purchase more of USANA’s nutrimeal for ideal weight management.
  4. Read more books – finishing the entire Anne of Green Gables collection, am on the eighth book now, and more…
  5. Learn something new – diamond stitching, thanks to Ate Betsy…
  6. Write… in my journal… in my blog… Write. – I am! 🙂
  7. Dress for succes – style icon Nicole Richie as inspiration ❤
  8. Run – 😛 haven’t lately but will definitely go back to running…
  9. Listen to that inner voice, follow your heart, embrace every possibility – following my hunches… because…
  10. Travel around the world – not yet the entire world, but Egypt as a start, was surreal…
  11. Hang with the family – looking forward to more! Especially with Mama…
  12. Found him, the one – Mikki’s definitely for keeps, he is the one…
  13. Be filled with creativity, passion and inspiration – have lots of creative projects to start and finish, love what I do, do what I love and read about successful people to inspire me and be an inspiration to others…
  14. Save – health/life insurance, check; emergency fund, working on it; short-term saving and long-term savings… And learning to live by a minimal lifestyle… Less is more.
  15. Be an entrepreneur – still learning the tools of the trade…
  16. Remember always, “Love Conquers All” – it does.
  17. Be a great football coach in F4L and redevote commitment to the LFA – read more about coaching, show passion in work and extend services to the association.
  18. Drive car – must get a driver’s license and learn how to drive…
  19. Be clutter-free by admitting of being a “messy” and doing something about it – read about home organizing, decluttering and cleaning. Have a list of wishes for our home and keep the family in-the-know of my home goals because I can’t do it alone.

There you go, my goals, what are yours? As 2015 would soon come to a close, I’m hoping to accomplish all these.  My dream board still has space on it, because I need to write down goals as they come.  As they say, you got to have more dreams, for what’s the point in living?  When a goal is achieved, you don’t stop there, you think of another goal and pursue it.

Rethink Things

Just some of my creations...
Just some of my creations…

Arts and crafts is a way of life.  I can’t account for yours but arts and crafts is definitely my way of life.  I almost always am working on a project.   It’s not just a want, it’s a need.  A need to express myself and to channel my creativity.  And the need to accomplish things and be able to create.  Being the youngest and only girl in our brood, I have always been into arts and crafts for as long as I can remember.  Not to say though that my brothers don’t have a knack at creating stuff, my eldest brother at drawing and design layouting as well as repairing computers, my second brother, DIY carpentry at home and now, repairing engines of sea vessels and of course, my third brother, our lucky charm, who has been endowed with the gift of clay-modelling and designing, robots and LEGO blocks.

Seeing my family do things with their hands, creating, even my mother too, who is now working on pillows made out of recycled aluminum foils from packaging, encourages me to do so too.  She also did a lot of crocheting way back and I know, when she retires next year, she’ll be doing more of.  My father is really good behind the lens, black and white photography as his specialty.  I have a particular cousin from the paternal side, Ate Cha, who makes jewelry (some out of upcycled materials) and earns from it on the side.

And I also have cousins from the maternal side, Ate Rose, Jessa and Jessyrie who do layout designing on the computer, set up event decorations and make souvenirs too (it is our humble dream to put up an events and souvenir shop and we will achieve this goal).  All these are precursors to me also being a creative.  Yes I claim to be a creative because the need to create is innate.  Plus, when you grow up with Art Attack, your imagination just soars and you claim to be an artist!

When I was in high school, I loved my art classes.  And making projects that show my creativity for other subjects was my favorite thing to do – recycled paper, parchment effect on paper by blotting coffee, paper mache, drawing and painting.  Fast forward to college when I studied Communication Arts, majoring in literature – creating essays and stories, and having theater and advertising classes – the set designs, costumes and makeup we did for our plays and the business and advertising plan for our public relations class, harnessed my creativity all the more.

I can’t forget what one of our professors has said, “the artist can create something out of nothing,” not to be taken literally though especially by those who think that this is physically impossible, but come to think of it, indeed, the artist can create trash (nothing) into something artistic and better yet, useful.  I know you’re skeptical, what does my using scratch paper do to helping the world?  I tell you, a lot.  By writing on the clean side of used paper, I am saving our landfills from twice the amount of trash – one paper used twice.  I hope you get it by now.

And by upcycling things and repurposing stuff, I am saving money.  And one more thing, I tend to be more appreciative of the things around me, and the people around me too.  Because I can see the world with wider perspective.  Plus, giving away gifts that I have made which I know will be used by the recipient, the glow on their faces when they receive something specially made for them complete my day.  And most importantly, arts and crafts is my way of showing my love to others.

We must keep these in mind…
